About the house

The Ben-Gurion House was built in 1930-1931 with the establishment of the first Hapoalim neighborhood, the Poalim A neighborhood, on land of the Jewish National Fund.

The house was expanded in 1946 and renovated again in 1960, serving as the permanent home of Paula and David Ben-Gurion until they settled in Sde Boker.

After that, it served as their home alternately with their home in Sde Boker until David Ben-Gurion’s death in 1973.

Since 1974, the house has been open to the public, featuring original items that highlight landmarks in the period prior to the establishment of the state and in the years that followed, illuminating chapters in David Ben-Gurion’s vision and legacy.

Today, the house serves as a historical museum, a center for culture and education, and a unique place for the study of subjects that interested Ben-Gurion, all of which can be found within his rich library.

The private home of Ben-Gurion in Tel Aviv, is not just a house, but a symbol of Ben-Gurion’s legacy and leadership. It provides an intimate look at the “behind the scenes” of a leader’s life.
